The Canadian Government has now opened the Office of the Embassy of Canada in Phnom Penh. The Office of the Embassy will concentrate its efforts on managing Canada-Cambodia bilateral relations, promote bilateral trade and investment, and provide consular services to Canadians in the Kingdom of Cambodia. By Monday January 4th 2016, Canadian consular services, previously provided by the Australian Embassy, will be transferred to the Office of the Embassy of Canada in Phnom Penh.

The Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia (CanCham) hosted a luncheon featuring Ambassador Philip Calvert on Canada’s Engagement with ASEAN on December 15 at Himawari Hotel The growing Asia-Pacific region is a key priority for Canada. Canada has built significantly on its relationship with ASEAN in recent years, such as appointing its first
Ambassador to ASEAN in 2009; adopting the Joint Declaration on the ASEAN-Canada Enhanced Partnership; and acceding to ASEAN’s peace treaty, the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation (TAC). The Canada-ASEAN Joint Declaration on Trade and Investment, adopted in October 2011, is the first trade and investment instrument concluded between ASEAN and Canada. It provides a platform for regular exchanges of information on opportunities and explores ways to expand and promote trade and investment between Canada and ASEAN.
